STUYVESANT, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Route 9J in Stuyvesant has been closed due to flooding, according to a Facebook post by Stuyvesant Fire Company #1. CHESHIRE, Mass. (WWLP) - A Pittsfield teen was arrested after crashing into the State Police-Cheshire Barracks while driving under the influence on Saturday. A mule deer buck attacked a 67-year-old woman outside her front door Saturday, goring the woman’s legs with its antlers, Colorado Parks and Wildlife said.The Silver Cliff resident managed to get back inside her home to call for help and was taken to a hospital in Pueblo, according to a Sunday news release from Colorado Parks and Wildlife.Silver Cliff is a small town about 55 west of Pueblo in the Wet Mountain Valley, located between the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and Wet Mountains.“A wildlife officer went to investigate and found a bird feeder in the yard,” CPW Area Wildlife Manager Mike Brown said in Sunday’s news release. “The victim told a CPW officer that she feeds birds and had thrown out bread earlier that day.”The attack immediately raised concerns for wildlife officers that someone had been feeding the deer, causing it to lose its fear of people, Brown said in the release.Wildlife officers are searching for the deer, CPW said. Southern Californians can expect a rainy week as they prepare for Christmas.Two storms are headed to the area, first a weaker system expected to arrive overnight Monday and then the second Tuesday night.While the first storm is expected to bring "light rain" to most areas, the second "looks more impactful and has the potential to bring more significant flood-related impacts to the area with moderate to heavy rain, possible thunderstorms, and gusty southeast winds," the National Weather Service said.The National Weather Service released this map of projected rainfall totals from a coming storm on Dec. 17, 2023.From Tuesday through Friday night, much of the Southland is expected to get 3 to 4 inches of rain, the NWS said. Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was on his way to pay tribute to The Manhattan Transfer at a concert in Los Angeles when he fell and broke his hip Friday, Variety reported Sunday night.The 76-year-old NBA Hall of Famer, now recovering from surgery, was unable to show his appreciation for the group during their performance at the Walt Disney Concert Hall Friday night but did so from his hospital bed on Sunday, the entertainment site reported.Abdul-Jabbar said the following in a statement shared by his business partner Deborah Morales to Variety.“The Manhattan Transfer first took the stage the same year I first took the NBA court. Two small dogs were killed when a fire erupted in a family home in the Exposition Park neighborhood of South Los Angeles overnight. The fire was reported shortly before 11:45 p.m. Sunday at a two-story home in the 1200 block of 36th Place. Crews respond to a fire in the Exposition Park neighborhood of South Los Angeles on Dec. 17, 2023. (OnScene.TV)Crews arrived to find fire showing and immediately began fighting the flames. Once inside the home, firefighters located two small dogs and performed life-saving measures.Unfortunately, both of the dogs were beyond medical help and died, stringer news service OnScene.TV reported.
